Salted Caramel S’more Brownies

by Salt Cellar & Sugar Pot

Brownies, we love ’em. They are America’s sweetheart, a classic dessert. Right up there with chocolate chip cookies and apple pie (mmm, now we want some pie). You can put almost anything in, on, or with a brownie and they will never go wrong. Nothing beats a warm homemade brownie. Which makes us want to ask….

What is your favorite brownie? Frosting or no frosting? Gooey? Cakey? Chewy? Fudgy? Edge or middle? Served with ice cream or a cold glass of milk?…

Brownies from scratch or from a box mix? The questions could go on and on. But as much as we love brownies from scratch, we do not always have the time to throw them together. So with brownie mix and a few little extras you can turn any regular old box mix of brownies into faux homemade brownies. Which is basically the perfect brownie when you are short on time.

Now lets talk about the recipe.

Our chewy brownies have the perfect caramelized edge and are filled with salted caramel, tiny bits of marshmallow, and white chocolate chips. You get chewy and crunchy all in one perfect brownie, with a yummy S’mores flavor that will remind you of summer during these cold days we have been having. All these added ingredients keep these brownies from tasting like regular “box mix” brownies.

As for the question, “how do we like our brownies?” … We know we will be serving these beauties warmed with a little bit of vanilla bean ice cream.

Ingredients

1 box Betty Crocker Delights Supreme Original Brownie Mix
1/2 cup white chocolate chips (we used Ghirardelli Classic White)
2 Tbsp Smuckers salted caramel topping (1Tbsp in brownie mix and 1 Tbsp as topping)
3 Large Jet Puff Marshmallows (mini marshmallows would work also)

Instructions

Preheat over to 350ºF

Grease a 9x9 pan.

Follow directions on brown mix box. Add white chocolate chips and 1Tbsp of caramel topping. Mix until completely blended.

Pour batter into the 9x9 pan.

Using a hot knife, cut marshmallows in half and then cut the halves in quarters.  Press the marshmallows throughout the brownie batter.

Please note that cooking time will take longer than what is directed on the brownie mix box.  Using a toothpick two inches from the side, the toothpick should pull out almost clean.  Remove from oven and let cool.

Serve and enjoy.

Notes

If you would like additional marshmallows, please feel free to add as many as your heart desires.
